Reunion Committee Meeting Minutes

2. Welcome
1. This was a preliminary meeting to consider meeting formally in January 2010 to start planning for the 50^th class reunion.
2. The meeting was called to order at 11:00 AM at the Colonial House in Rapid City
3. Minutes
1. There were no minutes to read and approve as this was the first meeting.
4. Treasurers Report
1. Linda Laughlin reported that there is $2391.11 in the class account.

 

5. Committee Reports
1. Web site –Ron Laughlin indicated that the web site continues and more activities are expected the next 6 months with the planning for the reunion.
2. Reunion Date – 2011 of course is the year for the 50^th but no date has been set. Some committee members noted that some class mates have mentioned having the reunion in the fall instead of the summer.
3. Reunion Place – Considerable discussion was ongoing. Rapid City as well as other sites in the hills were discussed. Deadwood was mentioned and Earl indicated that Spearfish had a lot to offer. More details and discussion expected at the next meeting.
4. Booklet – The printing of the class of 61 booklet was discussed and as the last one was published 10 years ago it would be nice to have an update. Les Davis daughter worked on the 2001 edition and has been approached to help with the booklet again for the 2011 edition.
5. Registration/Correspondence – There was considerable discussion on this subject and Duke indicated he would contact Toni in Arkansas and ask her to help with this again.
6. Activities – Several ideas were discussed and more ideas will be forth coming at the meeting on the 12^th of January 2010. Traditional outings such as golf were discussed as well as trips to Deadwood.
7. Banquet/Dance – A banquet and dance on Saturday night were discussed.
8. Miscellaneous – There were no additional items presented for discussion at this time.

 

6. Next Meeting
1. The next meeting is scheduled for 12 January 2010, Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the Lecture Hall at NAU in Rapid City.
2. All class of "61" classmates are invited and encouraged to attend and help the committee put on the "50^th" Reunion, best yet! Also those that are out of town and are on the email list are encouraged to email input/comments to the committee through Duke’s email address.
